Another week gone as we approach the start of the 2026 CEBL season. While this set of free agents don’t jump off the page, there is the re-signing of Calgary’s franchise player and a few intriguing others. This week did get overshadowed by the league’s signing day for U Sports and CCAA players. Nonetheless, let’s get into the signing for the week of the 10th.
Miller Kopp
We will start with the only import player to be signed this week. Kopp is a straight sharpshooter that fits exactly what Vancouver likes from their forwards. He has a bit of position flexibility, but look for him to mainly play the wing. He may get a few steals due to his size, but is mainly a shooter that takes care of the ball. Kopp’s play style is similar to Kyle Mangas from last season, which should be a good sign for Bandits fans.
Caelum Swanton-Rodger
The first of two Canadians joining the CEBL after NCAA collegiate careers, Swanton-Rodger joins the Calgary Surge after a solid season at Old Dominion. He plays like a traditional big man, patrolling the paint, doing much of his damage around the rim on both ends. He was considered to be one of the better defenders in the Sun Belt Conference, so I am curious to see if it translates in his first year pro. We will see if first year coach Perry Huang gives him an opportunity.
Josh Omojafo
The other Canadian who played his collegiate career down south, last playing for the University of South Florida. Omojafo is a rim attacking guard that excels at drawing fouls. He shot just over five and a half free throws a game last season for the Bulls. He can shoot the ball a little bit, but it is certainly something he needs to work on. He rebounds well for a guard and is a solid defender. Omojafo has a really high motor, which combined with his skills could see him get a bit of time this summer. Curious to see if he finds a role.
Sean Miller-Moore
The final player to talk about is another one of the CEBL’s cornerstone players in Miller-Moore. He returns for his fifth season in the league once again as Calgary’s star player. The All-Canadian has been one of the best Canadian players in the league since he’s arrived. He does most of his damage around the rim and in the mid-range. His shooting from deep is still a work in progress, but he does everything else so well. He defends, rebounds, playmake, and all the little things. He is the most important piece for the Surge and it was key to have him return.
CEBL training camp begins April 30th and the season begins on May 9th with the Winnipeg Sea Bears taking on the Edmonton Stingers.
