Fantasy basketball has officially arrived in the CEBL. It is something you may not have thought of, but certainly welcomed in the leagues community. This will be a fantastic way for new fans to get acquainted with the players and the league itself this summer. Over the last few days I have had the pleasure of poking around the CEBL Fantasy League website and getting to know how this fantasy league functions, its features and all that is offered. I want to thank them for giving me the opportunity to check it all out to its fullest potential. Here are my takeaways.
Free To Play
The biggest selling feature of CEBL Fantasy League is that it is absolutely free to use and play. You can join as many leagues/create as many teams as you wish, use the sites player search function, looking up stats and do essentially anything absolutely required to participate. There is a paid premium plan to access some extra cool features, but they are not completely necessary to use the website. Being able to take part and have most features be free is a huge A+ from me.
Premium Plan
As mentioned, there is a paid level of features on the website. On the sites premium plan you get accessed to, AI-powered assistance, advanced stats, draft and season tools, along with an early look at any new features that are released. While it is not necessary to pay for the premium, if you have a little extra cash to spend, it certainly would not hurt. It is also a good way to support the site as well.
Joining A League
It is very simple to join a league in CEBL Fantasy League. Simply head to the leagues page, which you then have three options. You can join an already created league by simply selecting from the public leagues, create a league of your own, or join a league via a private link send by someone else’s created league. Creating a team is very simple too. Just add your team name, select a logo from those provided, or even upload a photo. Then click save! Major props for making this as easy as it is.
Player Search
In the players tab, there is a search function in which you can look for the players you’d like to look at the stats for. Since the website is taking the stats from the league’s stats page, there are numbers all the way back to the CEBL”s first season. The fantasy points for the player is shown right there on the page, while next to it you can see how many points that player may have accumulated the season prior if they participated. There is even a ranking system for each player that’s participated in a game, which is one of the many things you can sort by.
Ease of Use
The best part of CEBL Fantasy League is how easy it is to use. All of the menus are simple, but even have little text boxes for small bits of information to help you out. Each process on the website is as easy as a few clicks or one menu, whether you are wanting to make a trade, or add a player from the waiver wire. This site was definitely created with beginners in mind, but certainly makes the lives of more experienced fantasy players easier, without watering down the features.
Overall CEBL Fantasy League is a great product and I would definitely recommend it to all those in the community who wish to stay more in touch with what’s happening this summer.
Drafts begin on May 15th, while the CEBL season starts on May 9th when the Winnipeg Sea Bears take on the Edmonton Stingers.
